Prizes

The Student Artist Competition winning entries are exhibited in a traveling art exhibit displayed at museums, galleries, and organizations throughout the U.S., including the U.S. Department of Education, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the Chicago Children’s Museum, and the Oklahoma History Center. The traveling exhibit demonstrates students’ artistic talents and shows American Indian and Alaska Native students' visions of their education and culture.

Entries are judged in six different grade-based categories, and prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each of these categories. Categories are: art competition (Pre-K –Kindergarten, 1-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12); and writing competition (6-8, 9-10, 11-12).

Prizes

  • Certificates of participation are awarded to all students who submit an entry.
  • All winners will have their entries displayed in a traveling art exhibit displayed at museums, galleries, and organizations throughout the U.S.
  • All winners receive a certificate, a plaque, and age appropriate art or writing supplies.
  • Additionally, the 1st place winners in Grades 11-12 receive an invitation to participate in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian’s Emerging Artist Program.
